Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that Trinity Lutheran Church is on the traditional territory of the Nisqually, Puyallup, Squaxin Island, Steilacoom and Muckleshoot people who, prior to the Medicine Creek Treaty of 1854 which removed native people to clear way for colonial settlement, lived on and cared for this land nourished by what we now call Chambers Creek Watershed as their ancestral home. We send gratitude to these native people who continue to be stewards of the land and leaders for justice in our community today. Further, we commit to hearing the

stories and learning the history of our indigenous siblings, building right relationships and remaining faithful to our shared journeys toward truth and healing.*

*Language in the final sentence comes from A Declaration of the ELCA to American
