Trinity Lutheran Kindergarten's Statement of Purpose:

Is to provide a stimulating and enriching place of learning, friendship, creativity, play, and spiritual life.

Enrollment:

Trinity Lutheran Kindergarten provides a favorable class size of 15 students allowing for numerous one on one occasions with the teacher and small work groups.

Registration and Tuition:

  • Registration begins in March. There is a non-refundable registration fee of $325.00 to secure the placement of each child.
  • Tuition is $425.00 a month for the 2006-2007 school year, September - June. (10 months} includes daily lunch!

TLK Students:

  • Trinity supports the educational needs of a variety of families.
  • Trinity has a multicultural program that expresses Gods love for everyone.
  • Trinity Child Care has a class available for after school care.

What Does TLK Offer?

  • Trinity Lutheran Kindergarten provides a safe and stimulating learning environment for Kindergarten aged children.
  • Trinity's program is designed to nurture, meet, and enhance educational and spiritual needs of the children in its program.
  • In addition Trinity believes a child's family is the core of his or her education.
  • TLK strives to establish positive relationships with the child's family and encourages an integration between home and school.

What Is Included in Trinity's Program?

Trinity Lutheran Kindergarten provides a developmentally appropriate program that integrates weekly and bi-weekly thematic units with daily reading, writing, math, science, art, and computer activities.

  • Reading and Writing - TLK believes in a literacy rich environment allowing for numerous reading and writing opportunities. Reading and Writing are seen as equal partners in literacy. Trinity's program combines a strong phonetic base with a whole language approach to provide the student with a well rounded literacy beginning.

  • Math - Our math program is a myriad of hands on experiences in combination with daily mathematical concepts such as problem solving, spatial conceptions and numerical ordering.

  • Science - Science is approached with both hands on exercises and units of study.

  • Computer - Students at TLK are encouraged to daily use educational programs and word processing exercises.

  • Art and Sensory Activities - Creativity is encouraged through numerous mediums and projects. Creativity is also encouraged throughout the curriculum. It sometimes takes a creative mind to solve difficult problems.

  • Community Service - Trinity Encourages numerous community service projects to encourage good social skills in the future.

  • Classroom Government - The students are actively involved with the classroom management including jobs, classroom rules, and decision making.

  • Positive Self Imaging - Trinity helps build a positive self image by giving the student praise, encouragement, a sense of belonging and a sense of security.

  • Field Trips – TLK participates in monthly field trips.

How Is Progress Measured?

Religion:

  • Trinity incorporates religious studies into classroom activities.
  • Students also attend a weekly Chapel time.

Teaching Staff

Our teacher will be Wendy Smitherman. She is a certified teacher who lives in Graham with her husband and two children. They are active members of Bethany Lutheran Church in Spanaway. Mrs. Smitherman has completed both a B.A. and Master's Degree in Education. Her focus areas in graduate studies included Early Childhood Education, ESL, and Reading. She has teaching experience in preschool, kindergarten, and the primary grades. She loves teaching and has a strong preference for kindergarten.
