Under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Wohlers, the choirs at Trinity play an important role in providing musical leadership for worship. United in song, the choirs seek to offer prayers and praises through music that encourage, support, and inspire. Newcomers are always welcome. For more information, or to join a choir, please contact Jonathan Wohlers, (253) 537-0201, ext. 114.
The Cantate Choir sings weekly at the 11:00 a.m. worship service, Trinity’s traditional liturgical worship service, as well as at festival services through the year. The Cantate Choir draws its repertoire from the great body of Lutheran choral music of the last 500 years by composers such as Heinrich Schütz, J. S. Bach, and Hugo Distler. Rehearsals are held every Wednesday evening from 7:30–9:00 p.m., and at 10:15 a.m. Sunday mornings in the Sanctuary balcony.
The Jubilate Choir is made up of a group of singers whose love of folksongs, world music, and contemporary choral anthems best match the character of Trinity’s 9:00 worship. Rehearsals are held the first Saturday of each month in the Fireside Room followed by a time for food and fellowship.
Trinity is fortunate to own four octaves of Schulmerich handbells. These are played for worship at various times through the year by the dedicated members of Trinity’s Handbell Choir. This group rehearses weekly in the Bell Choir Room on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m.
