Stephen Ministers...
- are lay people in congregations who care, really care.
- receive an initial 60 hours of training in topics and
skills related to caring ministry.
- are commissioned by the congregation and linked with the
first persons to whom they will be ministering.
- provide ongoing Christian care to people experiencing a
wide range of life needs or crises, including:
- the hospitalized
- the terminally ill
- the bereaved
- the elderly
- the disabled and handicapped
- those in job crisis
- those in families affected by alcohol or chemical
dependency
- the lonely or depressed
- the inactive
- the shut-in and institutionalized
- new members in your church or community
- those in spiritual crisis
- and many more
- receive regular support and supervision for their
ministries.
- apply caring skills to other important relationships and
discover that their whole lives are enriched.
- conduct this ministry in total confidentiality.
- are prepared to serve any one in the community who is in
need.
